BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Francis College Brooklyn men's swimming and diving team completed its first official competition of the 2021 season on Saturday. The Terriers fell to LIU, 195-69, in the annual Battle of Brooklyn meet to kick-off their season.
Sophomore
Jedi Morland Janes competed for the first time with the Terriers and took second-place in 1000-yard freestyle with a time 9:56.68. He later took third in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.48.
Benedek Lendvai had a pair of second-place finishes on Saturday. His first second-place finish came in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.72. The second one came in the 500-yard freestyle putting up a time of 4:49.05.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Vladimir Petras took third-place in the 100-yard backstroke for his first race of the 2021 season. The freshman put up a time of 55.80.
- Daniel Santos had a strong finish in the 50-yard freestyle, coming in at 21.98. Santos had another third-place finish at the meet in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a time of 2:03.44.
- Newcomer Kamil Goleniec closed Saturday's individual events in a strong way for the Terriers. He earned a third-place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.68.
- Steven Dawkins placed third in 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.65.
- Alfred Christensson kept the Terriers in the fight toward the end of the meet by taking second-place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.24.
- The Terriers then took second-place in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The relay squad consisted of Daniel Santos, Benedek Lendvai, Alfred Christensson, and Andrej Sokolovski who put up a time of 3:18.99.
