BROOKLYN, NY – St. Francis Brooklyn men's and women's swimming and diving have three players recognized in the Northeast Conference weekly awards, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore
Robin Tatar was named Rookie of the Week while
Mariajose Lopez and
Jedi Morland Janes were tabbed as Prime Performers.
The men's awards carried over two weeks of action due to limited action, so Tatar's credentials were from the team's meet against Mount St. Mary's on January 21. Against the Mountaineers, he finished first in the 200-meter IM. His time of 2:14.91 was nearly 3.5 seconds ahead of his closest suitor. The Talinn, Estonia native also added a second-place result in the 100-meter butterfly (59.51).
Lopez won the two distance events she competed in, breezing to victory in the 800 and 400-meter freestyle. She completed the 800-meter event in 9:32.59, 30 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Her time of 4:38.19 in the 400-meter freestyle was good enough for a five-second win. Lopez also helped the 400-meter medley relay squad to a win.
Morland Janes matched Lopez on the men's side, winning the 800-yard and 400-yard freestyle. He dominated the 800-yard event, winning by nearly 16 seconds (9:08.87). His time of 4:22.78 won by 6.66 seconds.
The Terriers are back in action Wednesday at Fordham for their final dual meet of the season. Action begins at 5 p.m.
