Men's Swimming & Diving Off To Solid Start At Metropolitan Championships

The morning prelim session at Metropolitan Championships at Rutgers University concluded and the Terriers had some good swims in preparation for tonight's finals

Junior Jonas Veazey continues to have a stellar meet with personal bests in the 200 free (1:44.84) and the 100 backstroke (54.73). He will come back tonight and swim those events as well as the 800 free relay.

Jonas will be joined in the 100 Backstroke Final along side his senior teammate Markus Kron after a season best time of 54.53

Evan Augst,who set a new school record on Friday evening in the 500 Freestyle (4:39.95), will also return to swim finals tonight after posting a 1:45.22 in the 200 free and will also swim the 800 free relay this evening.

Other notable swims from this mornings preliminary heats include:

In the 100 Breaststroke, Meriton Veliu posted a personal best time of 1:00.58. Coaches Guidera & Pepja both feel that he will go under the minute mark tonight.
Also in the 100 Breaststroke Kavin Duraku & Steven Brennan will compete in the finals after posting personal best of 1:01.60 and 1:02.29

Also posting a personal best and returning for tonight's finals is Micah Wesselhoff after putting up a time of :57.29 in the 100 Backstroke. Micah will also anchor the Terriers 200 medley relay this evening "A" final after anchoring the Terrier "B" medley relay team during the morning prelim with a time of 21.22.

Binalt Mahmuti also had season best time in the 100 butterfly 53.11.

Finally, of note Sophomore Will Lapkin anchored the 200 medley relay this morning and turned in an impressive 50 free time of 21.48.
