Men's Swimming Battles Past Wagner 145-141

Terriers post several strong times in the victory

STATEN ISLAND, NY - St. Francis Brooklyn men's swimming and diving defeated Wagner in a Saturday meet by a score of 145-141. The team had several strong finishes, including a victory for Toni Dragoja in the 100-yard freestyle.

Dragoja finished his race with a time of 46.70, just ahead of teammates Arthur Quieroz and Daniel Matheus Santos who finished second and third respectively. Maurice Grabowski won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.56, just under half a second faster than the next closest finisher.

The 200-yard medley relay team and 400-yard freestyle teams also won for the Terriers. Dragoja. Victor Fuentes, Kamil Goleneic and Grabowski teamed up to win the 200-yard event with a time of 1:36.17, which was over two seconds faster than the next fastest team. Grabowski, Matheus Santos, Quieroz and Dragoja ran away with the 400-yard freestyle, getting a time of 3:09.71.

Robert Wagner and Paul Melcer finished second and third in the 200-yard backstroke with times of 1:57.90 and 1:59.97. 

Victor Fuentes took second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:02.62. Robert Wagner also had a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Robin Tatar finished third with a time of 53.19.

Matthew Bernstein won the 3-meter dive competition with a cumulative score of 192.15. He bested Wagner's Carter Green (186.68)

The Terriers return home and will host the College of Staten Island Saturday, November 12. The meet will begin at noon.
