Fuentes leads Three Weekly Awards Winners for Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving

The freshman leads the way as NEC Rookie of the Week, two others tabbed as Prime Performers

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY - Victor Fuentes of the men's swimming and diving team has been named Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon. He is joined by Robert Wagner and Elayna Pistrin of women's swimming and diving, who both earned Prime Performer recognition.

It is the first time Fuentes has been recognized by the NEC this young season. He won the 100-yard breaststroke against Manhattan Saturday afternoon with a time of 1:00.81. That time is good enough for sixth in the conference. He also finished second in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 27.99. That finish is the fifth-best mark in the conference.

Wagner also had a strong week, winning the 100 and 50-yard butterfly events. Both of his times (52.21 and 23.76) are the third-best times in the NEC.

Pistrin, competing in non-traditional events to what she normally competes in, continued to shine. She won three events on the day including the 100-yard butterfly, 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard IM. Her time of 59.49 in the butterfly event is the sixth-best in the NEC.

Both teams won in commanding style over Manhattan over the weekend. The men's team defeated the Jaspers 199-47 and the women's team won 163-87.

The Terriers do not compete this weekend and are back in action next Saturday at Wagner. The women's team will take on Felician as well as the Seahawks.
