BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The St. Francis Brooklyn men's soccer team fell to (1-3) after coming up short against the visiting Cornell Big Red (2-0) at their home opener in at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5. On the Sunday afternoon match-up, the Terriers were bested by their New York-based foe, 4-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Terriers netted the first goal after a converted penalty kick from junior defender
Marco Torriani – his first of the season – just 12 minutes into the match.
With 10 minutes to go before halftime, Cornell's Emeka Eneli retaliated with a goal of his own, forcing a tied game. Teammate Ryan Bayne found the back of the net five minutes later, giving the Big Red the lead prior to halftime.
With second half goals from Charles Touche and John Scearce, Cornell was able to grow their lead to 4-1 before junior midfielder
Rahmi Shawki boomed one in with 19 seconds remaining, collecting his first goal of 2018.
In the game, the Terriers were in constant attack mode, putting up 13 shots to Cornell's eight, while managing to equal the Big Red's seven shots on goal.
