BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY - In recognition of his continuing impact on one of the most successful eras of St. Francis Brooklyn men's soccer, head coach Tom Giovatto has elevated Andy Cormack ('15) to Associate Head Coach. Cormack has been an Assistant Coach under Giovatto for the past eight seasons.
"Andy's tenure with St. Francis Men's Soccer is synonymous with the last decade of success.
First, as a player and captain, he led us to two Northeast Conference championships and two NCAA tournaments. Secondly, as a coach, he has won four Northeast Conference titles and NCAA births, three Regular Season titles, and elevated our staff to four Northeast Conference Coaching Staff of the Year and three Regional Coaching Staff of the Year awards. His sixteen major honors in this time firmly stamps his name into our history, and this does not include the individual players he's developed into All-Region, Conference Players of the Year, and MLS selections.
Andy works tirelessly to bring this program towards a championship every year, while modeling the standards and values of our program, the athletic department, and college at the highest level. He is more than deserving of this promotion, and his story with St. Francis is one I am particularly proud of. I am thankful to have him on our staff."
In addition to the above accomplishments, Cormack has been instrumental in leading the Terriers to an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He, along with Giovatto and assistant coach Jason Orban have also been named ECAC Coaching Staff of the Year and BigAppleSoccer.com Coaching Staff of the Year each one time.
The Plymouth, England native has helped recruit some of the top players in the NEC and the greater Northeast region during his time as a coach on Remsen Street. Under his watch, St. Francis has had two NEC Players of the Year, four NEC Defensive Players of the Year, one NEC Rookie of the Year, 31 All-Conference honors, 16 All-NEC Tournament honors, nine NEC All-Rookie honors, six Northeast Regional honors and three All-American honors. With Cormack's help, five Terriers have gone on to sign professional contracts and St. Francis had its first ever selection in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
His coaching accomplishments only add to the legacy he created at St. Francis as a student-athlete; scoring back-to-back golden goals to win the NEC Championship in 2013 and 2014 and winning multiple All-Conference and all-Northeast region awards in the process.
"I am honored and extremely grateful to coach Tom for entrusting me as his associate head coach for this incredible program," said Cormack. "It is a privilege to represent St. Francis Brooklyn Men's Soccer on a daily basis and I am looking forward to continuing on this journey in helping create great memories for our incredible student-athletes."
Cormack and the Terriers continue the 2022 season this weekend with a Maryland road trip; facing UMBC (Sept. 2) and Navy (Sept. 4).
