BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – St. Francis College Brooklyn men's golf Head Coach
Mike Carney announced the addition of Hank Schaefer to the Terriers' 2020-21 roster. Schaefer is set to join the St. Francis men's golf program in the Fall of 2020 after graduating from Bishop Moore Catholic High School this Spring.
"Hank Schaefer, from Orlando, FL, is a member of Bay Hill Country Club with a solid record in tournament play. Hank is a true student-athlete, who has had great success both academically and athletically through his High School career. He is a great addition to the St. Francis men's golf program," said Carney.
Schaefer is a native of Orlando, FL, and has been a member of the men's golf team for all four years at Bishop Moore Catholic. He has tallied a handicap of +1, recorded two victories, and two top-three finishes in National Junior Events in the Summer of 2019.
During the 2017-18 campaign, Schaefer claimed the MVP Award for his excellence on the course. Academically, he has earned a pair of prestigious honors. Last year, he was named to both the Honor Roll and the National Honors Society.
This past Summer, Schaefer participated in tournaments in seven different states and volunteered at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. The accomplishment that he is most proud of is shooting 35 on the back nine in the Bay Hill Jr. Club Championship. He dropped in an eagle on the 16
th hole to win and earn a spot in the 2020 AJGA Arnold Palmer Invitational Jr.
He is the son of Raymond and Karla Schaefer and has one sibling, Sinclaire, who is a graduate of Johns Hopkins. His father, Raymond, was a member of the men's basketball team at Illinois Tech.
Schaefer intends to major in Business at St. Francis because he wants to get involved in the Hospitality Industry and views the location of New York City as an ideal place to begin his journey.
