CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The St. Francis Brooklyn men's basketball team returned to the Watsco Center for the first time since the Terriers' overtime win over the Miami Hurricanes in 2013 on Wednesday.
St. Francis kicked off its Thanksgiving Week taking on Miami for the third time in program history, falling 56-79.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Terriers opened the game on fire after Miami scored the first basket of the evening. A pair of fast break buckets by Larry Moreno helped fuel a 9-2 run in the opening minutes. Tedrick Wilcox Jr. and Syrus Grisby traded baskets with the Hurricanes before Moreno gave St. Francis its largest lead of the game at the free-throw line, 15-8, with 14:49 remaining in the first half.
Miami erased the Terrier advantage over the next three and half minutes but St. Francis took the lead again when Josiah Harris took advantage of good position under the basket for two. Both teams traded buckets headed into the under-eight media timeout but Miami was able to open up a sizable advantage; leading 38-26 at halftime.
Wilcox was the highlight for the second half; logging 14 points for the Terriers on 4-8 shooting from beyond the arc.
TEAM LEADERS
Tedrick Wilcox, Jr. logged a new season-high with 18 points on the night (6-14 FG, 5-10 3PT).
