BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - The St. Francis Brooklyn men's basketball team dropped the first game of its final homestand of the regular season.
The Terriers (10-18, 7-10 NEC) fell to Bryant (18-9, 14-2 NEC), 86-69.
Rob Higgins and Michael Cubbage led St. Francis with 16 points apiece.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs staked their claim on the game in the opening minutes, opening up on a 15-0 run.
Just under four minutes in to the first half, Michael Cubbage drove from the perimeter for a contested layup, the first points of the game for the Terriers.
Larry Moreno scored the first St. Francis three-pointer of the contest just under 10 minutes to play in the first, cutting the Bryant lead to 34-18.
With leading scorer Peter Kiss headed to the bench just before the six minute mark, Tedrick Wilcox Jr. cut the Bulldog lead down to single digits with a three-pointer of his own.
The Terriers went to the locker room trailing, 36-50.
Bryant's offensive consistency continued in to the second half, climbing to a 20-point lead on a Kiss jumper with 9:15 to go.
Wilcox got the Bryant lead to its lowest of the final 20 minutes with a basket in the paint, making the Bulldog lead, 79-66.
A Bryant three in the final minute secured an 86-69 win.
TEAM LEADERS
Rob Higgins set a new career-high with 6 steals on Thursday night. He added 16 points, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Michael Cubbage scored 16 points of his own, with 4 steals, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
Larry Moreno came off the bench with 15 points, tacking on 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
