EMMITSBURG, MD – The St. Francis College Brooklyn men's basketball team (8-10, 2-4 NEC) fell to Mount St. Mary's (8-11, 4-2 NEC), 59-39, at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, MD on Monday night. It was the 11
th time in history that the Terriers played on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Mountaineers led wire-to-wire en route to their eighth win of the season. Despite the defeat, the Terriers put forth a strong defensive effort as the 59 points allowed were the second-fewest they have surrendered in a game this season.
St. Francis limited two of Mount St. Mary's top three scorers to a combined two points. Mount's leading scorer Jalen Gibbs was held scoreless on 0-of-6 shooting, while the team's third-leading scorer Malik Jefferson scored two points on 0-of-3 shooting from the field and went 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Freshman guard Rob Higgins led the Terriers with 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting from the field and grabbed three rebounds in 29 minutes. The freshman has scored in double-digits in seven out of his last eight games and has done so 11 times overall this season. Through six conference games, the guard is leading the Terriers in scoring with 12.8 points per game.
- Senior forward Deniz Celen totaled eight points and pulled down four rebounds in 21 minutes. Graduate guard Unique McLean registered four points and 10 rebounds in 36 minutes. The 6-foot-2 guard has tallied 10 or more rebounds in three consecutive games. Since conference play started, the guard is averaging 11.8 points and 9.8 rebounds in six games.
- Freshman guard Trey Quartlebaum scored five points in seven minutes as he knocked down a three-pointer and a pair of free-throw attempts for the Terriers.

The Terriers return to Brooklyn Heights on Thursday, January 23, to host Robert Morris at 7 p.m. St. Francis Brooklyn is 30-50 all-time against Robert Morris and Thursday's matchup will be the 81st meeting between the teams in history. The Terriers and Colonials last met on Thursday, January 9, when St. Francis played its first game inside the brand new UPMC Events Center. Robert Morris picked up a 78-52 victory as it had a trio of players score in double figures and were led by Josh Williams who had 20 points.
Unique McLean led the Terriers with 11 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes of play. St. Francis is 7-13 against Robert Morris dating back to the 2010-11 season.
