TEANECK, NJ – The St. Francis College Brooklyn men's and women's track and field teams concluded their impressive showing at the FDU Knights Classic on Sunday. Both teams had strong individual and relay performances as the men competed for the second time this indoor season, while the women were in action for the first time.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
- Tyiera Newland got the women's team off to a strong start. She took second-place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.42. Zhoey Starkey wasn't too far behind her snagging fifth-place, putting up a time of 1:10.48.
- In the 500-meter run, there were two top five finishes from Leah Rivers and Brianna Browne. Rivers posted a time of 1:23.86, while Browne went through the finish line at 1:23.81.
- The women's 4x400-meter relay team had an impressive third-place finish. This relay squad consisted of Nyah Anderson, Janee Patterson, Tolulope Atolagbe, and Leah Rivers, who posted a collective time of 4:14.86.
- In the women's triple jump Arianna Ryan had a strong final mark of 9.49m, which landed her in fourth-place.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS:
- In the men's 400-meter dash the Terriers had three finish in the top three spots. Terrell Howard took first (52.92), Joshua Beausil (53.60) came not too far behind in second, Remington Allen (55.54) finished strong in third.
- The men followed in the women's footsteps putting up a strong third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Beausil, Nicholas Mejia, Allen, and Noor Tayeh crossed the finish line at 3:42.66.
- In the men's long jump, the Terriers had a strong leap of 6.45m by Jaren Ellis, earning him a fourth-place finish.
