Jade Johnson Selected to Women’s Basketball Preseason All-NEC Team

BROOKLYN, NY – The Northeast Conference has announced senior guard Jade Johnson as a selection to the Preseason All-NEC Women's Basketball team, this morning. The release of the Preseason All-NEC squads coincided with the conference's annual media day at Barclays Center. The Terriers were also selected to finish the season in fifth place by the nine NEC coaches.

Johnson is coming off a career year on Remsen Street, as the Australian native broke numerous program records, and made her name known on the NCAA's lists as well.

The senior guard broke the 1,000-career point plateau last season against the then-Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn. Also, Johnson concluded her season ranked atop the St. Francis College Brooklyn program's scoring list with 598 points during the 2018-19 season, passing Hall-of-Famer Karen Erving-Schiera for first all-time. Johnson also broke the record for most three-pointers netted in a single season for the Terriers at 100 on the season. The record was previously held by Tiffany Hill during the 2008-09 season with 85. Johnson ranked second in the NEC in scoring average with 19.9 points-per-game. She would also conclude the campaign in the top-10 in free-throw percentage in the nation, with a 91.7 average.

Playing a key role for the Terriers a season ago, Johnson contributed 33 points during the 26th annual Battle of Brooklyn and broke the single-game three-point record with 8 against LIU Brooklyn. The record was previously held by Sarah Benedetti, who netted 7 against the aforementioned Blackbirds during the 2013-14 borough battle.

Johnson's preseason honor is the latest on the list of accolades achieved throughout her collegiate career. She was named to a pair of All-NEC Second Teams during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 season, respectively. During last year's season, Johnson was named a conference Prime Performer a record 12 times. She was also named Player of the Week twice during the weeks of November 19th and February 19th, respectively.
