Northeast Conference Cancels All Remaining 2019-20 Competitions & Practices

Northeast Conference (NEC) Statement:
With the evolving nature of the COVID-19 public health threat and in light of yesterday's announcement by the NCAA to cancel the remaining NCAA championships, the Northeast Conference Presidents convened by conference call this morning and voted to cancel all competition (conference and non-conference) as well as organized and formal practices for all teams on NEC campuses for the remainder of the spring semester. In addition, the NEC has announced a moratorium on all on- and off-campus in-person recruiting activities until further notice.

"We are in an unprecedented and rapidly evolving time as the world works through this changing situation. We see first-hand every day how our student-athletes, coaches, and staff work extremely hard all year long to represent St. Francis College, their families, friends, and teammates through tireless practices and competitions. Although this was not an easy decision to make, the St. Francis Athletics Department fully supports the measures taken by the Northeast Conference Council of Presidents and the NCAA to protect the health and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and spectators. For those who had their seasons cut short, your entire St. Francis community is here to support you. We will get through this together," said St. Francis College Brooklyn Director of Athletics Irma Garcia.
