Four Terriers Student-Athletes, Coaches Honored at Charter Day Convocation

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - Four St. Francis Brooklyn student-athletes and coaches were honored at Friday's Charter Day Convocation, the College's annual end-of-year recognition of outstanding students and staff.

Two student-athletes were inducted into the Duns Scotus Honors Society. Founded in 1935, the Society is named for the Blessed John Duns Scotus, a Franciscan scholar and champion of Our Lady's Immaculate Conception. Election to membership in the Society is based on high scholastic standing, participation in extracurricular activities, evidence of loyalty to the ideals of St. Francis College and demonstration of a true Franciscan spirit.

Ridwan Hannan, a men's soccer captain sporting a 4.0 GPA and an active writer about the experience of Division I student-athlete, was inducted after being named the Athletic Department's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Albion Veliu, a member of the men's swimming and diving team who currently holds a 3.993 GPA in the Information Technology degree program as a junior, was also inducted.

Two coaches were also honored for their years of service to St. Francis College Athletics.

Clive Bentick, Men's Basketball Associate Head Coach, and Brian Guidera, Director of Aquatics and Head Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Coach, received the President's Medal. The award is given in recognition of 15 years of dedicated services as an administrator and staff member.

We congratulate our student-athletes and coaches for being recognized for their efforts!
