Falanga & Catone Represent St. Francis Brooklyn As Northeast Conference Student-Athletes of the Year

Seniors Dominick Falanga and Emma Catone were selected as St. Francis Brooklyn's Northeast Conference Student-Athletes of the Year, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Falanga was a four year starter and helped lead the Terriers to three NEC Titles and three NCAA appearances during his tenure. This past season, the New Utrecht product finished tied for fifth in the NEC in scoring with 16 points, producing seven goals and two assists.

The recent Health Studies graduate scored five goals, including a pair of game-winners. The Brooklyn native was named the NEC Player of the Week after his remarkable second-half hat-trick in under 6 minutes against Robert Morris on October 20th, something we may never see again.

He also scored on a header in the victory against LIU Brooklyn in the NEC Championship game and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Following the season, he was named to the NEC First Team All-Conference squad and was a First Team NSCAA All-Northeast Region pick.

Last season, the defender earned Second Team NSCAA All-Northeast Region honors and was a First Team All-NEC selection after tying for the team-lead with 12 points.
Catone closed out her Terrier bowling career at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championships, which was contested at Sun Valley Lanes in Omaha, Nebraska. On Day I of the event, Catone knocked down 1,275 pins over the six game block to finish the qualifying round in fourth place. As one of the top eight finishers, Catone earned a bye into the second round of the match play bracket.

Catone, a Second Team All-Northeast Conference selection, qualified for the Intercollegiate Singles Championship as one of the top seven finishers at the Stratford, New Jersey Sectional on March 9.

She averaged a team-high score of 188.68 during traditional matches this past season. Her season-high score of 254 against Wilmington tied the program-record. In addition, Catone averaged a team-high score of 203 in the three NEC Championships mega matches, leading the Terriers to a third-place finish.

In the classroom, the Rochester, New York graduated in May with a degree in Sociology.
