Callum James Tabbed NEC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

SOMERSET, NJ – St. Francis College Brooklyn freshman goalkeeper Callum James was tabbed the Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. James is the first Terrier to be named NEC Rookie of the Week since teammate Chris Gruver took home the honor in 2017.

James began his collegiate career with back-to-back impressive efforts in net. For the week, he recorded six saves, faced 21 shots, and held opponents off the scoreboard for 180 minutes. The freshman recorded two clean sheets as the Terriers earned wins over Stony Brook (1-0) and La Salle (3-0).

In his first collegiate start he made a pair of saves in the Terriers' 1-0 victory over the Seawolves on Saturday. James was rock solid in net for the Terriers as he made four saves and denied the Explorers on several high-percentage scoring opportunities in yesterday's 3-0 win over La Salle.

The Terriers wrap up a three-match homestand on Saturday, September 7, as they welcome the Lafayette Leopards to Brooklyn Bridge Park – Pier 5 for a 1 p.m. kick-off. The Terriers are (4-0-1) in their last five meetings with Lafayette and have won four-straight contests against them. St. Francis defeated Lafayette, 1-0, on a game-winning goal by Islami to open up the 2018 season.
