Jessica Coscia enters her fourth season as an assistant coach at St. Francis Brooklyn in 2021-22. Three seasons ago, the Terriers won 18 games, including setting a program record with 12 conference wins in her first season on staff. Coscia helped guide the Terriers to the No. 3 seed in the NEC Championship and hosted Mount St. Mary’s in the Tournament Quarterfinals.
Coscia joined the Terriers after serving as an assistant coach at Caldwell University. At Caldwell, Coscia was responsible for scout and practice plans and worked closely with the development of the guards. While at Caldwell, Coscia contributed to the success of the program as the team made school history by reaching the NCAA Division II Tournament in back-to-back seasons.
Coscia oversaw the skills development of the guards especially of All-Met First Teamer Kristen Drogsler and All-Met Second Teamer Sharell Sanders. Sanders was also named the CACC Defensive Player of the Year. Drogsler received two additional honors under Coscia’s tutelage. She earned Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association All-East Region Second Team Selection and was also honored as an Eastern College Athletic Conference First Team All-Star.
Before coaching at Caldwell, Coscia was the assistant coach for the Susan E. Wagner Boys’ Varsity basketball team in Staten Island, NY for two seasons. She worked closely with the guard’s development and the team’s conditioning while also assisting the head coach with scouting plans. During the summer of 2017, Coscia served as a head coach in the Linden Summer League at Linden High School in New Jersey.
As a player, Coscia was the starting point guard for current Terriers’ head coach Linda Cimino at Caldwell University. Coscia was known for having a high basketball IQ and a strong work ethic. Coscia was an impactful point guard for the Cougars during her career from 2011-15. She appeared in 118 games, starting in 95 games. She has the most assists in the modern era (2003-present) of the women’s basketball program with 565. Coscia led the conference in assists three out of four seasons. During her senior year, she finished in the top-10 in Division II in assists. Coscia served as the team captain her junior and senior years. Coscia competed on Caldwell’s first track and field team in 2012. She was also a part of the Student-Athlete Mentor (SAM) program for incoming student-athletes.
Before Caldwell, Coscia attended Moore Catholic High School in Staten Island, NY. As a senior at Moore Catholic, the New York Post named her to the All-Staten Island Second Team. In her junior year, the Staten Island Advance named her an Advance All-Star. Coscia served as team captain her junior and senior years. She helped Moore Catholic win three CHSAA Archdiocesan Championships.
Coscia graduated from Caldwell University with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Minor in Communications in 2015. She received her Master’s degree in Counseling with a Specialization in School Counseling in 2017.
She currently resides in Red Bank, NJ.
