Biography

2013 (Sophomore): Scored one goal during the 2013 season… Named to the NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll... Also earned a spot on to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-Academic Awards Superior Team.

2012(Freshman): Scored three goals and picked up two assists in 13 games.

Background… Was a captain and his team's overall Most Valuable Player on both offense and defense.  The 165 pound driver/utility player scored an amazing 102 goals last season.  He was a First Team All Freeway League and was the second highest scorer in his League. In addition, he was a member of the North Orange County All Star Team and received the most outstanding Athlete award in the month of October at Sonora. His biggest achievements include scoring six goals against CIF finalists' Royal High School and he also had a high of 10 goals in one game. Academically, Varela will be graduating in June with a Diploma of High Honors, AP Scholar Award, Principals Honor Roll, Award for Most Likely to Succeed, USAWP Academic All- American, Leader of the Year, and was selected as the Class Valedictorian.

Personal: Son of Maria and Manuel…Has two siblings, Michael and Marissa… Majoring in Advertising with a Minor in Multimedia Design… Was born October 10,1994.
