Biography

Ranked 110th in the latest College Tennis Online (www.collegetennisonline.com) poll, released on March 17. Chaloupka is one of three players from a New York college or university to be ranked. Mihai Nichifor of Columbia University is ranked three spots ahead of Chaloupka in 107th place and freshman Katherine Hanson of Stony Brook is ranked 87th on the women’s side. Chaloupka is the lone representative, male or female, from the Northeast Conference.

Since arriving at St. Francis College nearly three years ago, Chaloupka, a transfer from Lincoln Memorial in Tennessee has been the staple of the men’s tennis program. The senior’s hard-work and determination has translated into an impressive collegiate tennis career, while excelling in his pursuit of a degree in International Economics. In the classroom, Chaloupka has achieved a 3.46 overall grade-point average. He has been on St. Francis’ Dean List every semester, while also managing to make the Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll each semester.

“Jindrich is a strong-minded and motivated student, athlete and person,” says St. Francis College men’s tennis head coach Chad Davis. “As a student, adapting to college is tough, especially for anyone having to embrace a new culture, language and education. Jindrich hasn’t let that phase him as he shows the drive to get better and go the “extra-mile” as his grades clearly reflect.”

Chaloupka has gone undefeated in Northeast Conference action all three years. Last season, he garnered Northeast Conference Player of the Week, after impressive performances against top singles opponents from New Jersey Tech and Saint Peters. This season, he is 11-2 on the season, serving up victories against Delaware St, Drexel, Hartford, Navy, Saint Peter’s, Loyola (MD) and LaSalle. This past fall, while participating in the Darthmouth Big Green Tournament, he won the Singles A Championship, with victories against Dartmouth, Fairfield and Harvard.

Jindrich has attained an undefeated mark of 4-0 in conference play, which leads the conference, while notching recent victories against Sacred Heart, Wagner, Monmouth and Robert Morris. He leads the Northeast Conference with an 11-2 record (.846 winning pct).

Coach Davis praises Jindrich for his accomplishments throughout his career. “He has been my biggest recruit here at St. Francis College. He has improved the moral of this program that had been on the decline, and has helped become the catalyst, leading to recruiting players to build upon his graduation. Guys like Danhildi Robinson, James Brennan-Tsang, Daniel Gonzalez, and Esteban Mesa have learned so much just by watching and spending time with him.”

“I believe he has all the necessary skills to make it to the professional tour, if he so chooses.” Davis says. “If he wants to pursue his dream in International Economics, he will definitely succeed. He has all the makings to serve a ‘win-win’ situation for his life.”

Personals: Jindrich was named to the 1st Team All-Conference in 2006 for the Gulf South Conference while playing for Lincoln Memorial University in Tennesee. Son of Miloslav and Jindra. Jindrich is an International Business major.
