BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – St. Francis Brooklyn women's basketball hits the floor for two home games in three days, beginning with a contest against second place Sacred Heart on Thursday evening. They will then take on league leading FDU on Saturday for Senior Day where they will honor guards Alyssa Fisher and Eszter Varga.
Thursday's game against the Pioneers will be a Play4Kay game, an annual contest played by over 500 schools to honor cancer survivors and raise awareness about ALL cancers affecting women. Uniting players, coaches, officials and fans to do something for the greater good, the Play4Kay fund does just that.

The Terriers have lost two straight games since opening the conference season with an 8-3 record. Despite the recent skid, they still sit tied for third in the Northeast Conference and currently own the tiebreaker over Merrimack, who owns the same record.

It will be a stern test for St. Francis Brooklyn, who has the toughest strength of schedule down the stretch. They look up in the standings at two of their last three opponents and are tied with the third in Merrimack.

The backcourt duo of Alyssa Fisher and Tyra Myers seem primed for postseason accolades, as the two average over 14 points per game in conference action. Fisher, who eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career in her last outing, averages 18.9 points per game in the NEC.

Myers was recognized by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (honorable mention) after a 22-point performance against Saint Francis (PA). Myers has now scored 20 or more points in four of her last six games.

Slow starts have plagued the Terriers of late, as they have trailed after the first quarter in seven of their last nine games.

Freshman point guard Ny'Ceara Pryor remains the star of the Pioneers. Dynamic on both sides of the ball, Pryor leads the league in points, assists and steals. She also averages 6.7 rebounds per game.

Sajada Bonner, a transfer from Quinnipiac adds another offensive punch. She is averaging 11.3 points per game and is regarded as a strong three-point shooter.

The Pioneers have three losses in conference play, but none of them are to league leading FDU. They pulled off the sweep over the Knights, handing them their only two losses in the NEC.

Thanks in large part to Pryor, Sacred Heart has 255 steals to their opponents' 165. Pryor has 106 steals of her own.
