BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - St. Francis Brooklyn Director of Athletics Irma Garcia '80 and Director of Volleyball Amable Martinez announced Tuesday that Justin Beaumont has been elevated to Head Men's Volleyball Coach and Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach. Beaumont spent the past season as a volunteer assistant coach for the women's volleyball team.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to a head coaching position in Division I athletics and thrilled the opportunity is at St. Francis Brooklyn," said Beaumont. "I have a great amount to offer the Terriers' men's volleyball program and I look forward to the opportunity to continue building on the foundation that has been set while preparing the current team for competition in the Northeast Conference."

Beaumont's coaching career has already spanned over 10 years, dating back to his first position as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Division II Felician while still competing at his alma mater, New Jersey City University (NJCU), in 2011.

"Working alongside Justin for more than a decade, I am fully confident he is the right coach to lead our men's volleyball program, said Martinez. "He has been a major asset to the women's team and I look forward to his impact on both of our programs."

"I witnessed Justin's impact on our women's volleyball student-athletes last season and know he will be an excellent fit in these new, elevated roles," said Garcia. "His experience will benefit the men's team, and volleyball program on the whole, as they enter full membership in the NEC."

His transition to working full-time with both St. Francis Brooklyn men's and women's volleyball comes after supporting Martinez's staff in the women's volleyball team's first full season since 2019. During the fall 2021 season, the Terriers, with Beaumont's help, scored their first win over Central Connecticut State since 2015 and one of their standouts, Alasha Colón, earned the program's first (co-)Rookie of the Year honors.

Before joining the St. Francis staff, Beaumont was most recently with his alma mater, NJCU, for the 2018-19 academic year; he was the head coach of the women's team and associate head coach with the men's team.

Beaumont previously served as an assistant coach/interim head coach with the Saint Peter's women's team during the 2018-19 season under Martinez. He helped the Peacocks to their first winning season in three years and helped them to their most wins in a season since 2008. The crowning achievement of the season was the eight-seed Peacocks upset over five-seed Marist in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament for their first postseason win since 2006.

His collegiate coaching career began as an assistant coach under Martinez at Division II Bloomfield College, from 2012-16. He has also worked at the University of Michigan's volleyball camps since 2016.

He refined his craft outside of the collegiate system. Beaumont has been the General Manager of Sideout Sports Volleyball Club, based in Fairfield, N.J., since 2011. During that period, he has helped the Club to one of the most successful in the Garden State; managing the national team program and designing developmental programs, among other duties.

Beaumont is also the owner and general manager of the Team Freedom Volleyball Club, launched in 2016 representing the Metro nationally. The Team Freedom men's team competes professionally in the National Volleyball Association (NVA) and recorded the league's first undefeated regular season during the 2022 campaign. The women's team competes at the semi-professional level. For Team Freedom, Beaumont manages player personnel, coaches, and recruiting, among other duties.

The Bayonne, N.J. native was one of the greats at NJCU as a student-athlete, prior to his coaching career. With a vertical exceeding 40 inches, one of the highest in the sport at any level at the time, he captained the Gothic Knights his final two seasons and earned All-Skyline Conference First Team in 2012 and 2013. He produced 2,602 assists, 896.5 points, 680 digs, 666 kills, 188 blocks, including 39 solo rejections, and 117 service aces through 117 matches and 394 sets. He averaged 6.60 assists, 2.28 points, 1.73 digs, 1.69 kills, 0.48 blocks and 0.30 aces. He is third in school history in assists despite playing just part of his career at the position, third in service attempts and fifth in aces.

Beaumont will begin his full-time tenure with St. Francis immediately. The Terriers' women's volleyball season begins Aug. 26 against Hartford at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Invitational.
