RANDALLS ISLAND, N.Y. - The St. Francis Brooklyn men's track and field team scored its best finish at the Metropolitan Championships under head coach Chris Mills over the weekend, taking fourth place.
The jumps team score 34 of the team's 65 points, with the Terriers notching five top three finishes total.
St. Francis's best event of the day was the triple jump, racking up 25 points. Malachi Aiken stood tall with a first place finish (15.10m), good for 10 points. The Terriers also took third, fourth and fifth places thanks to efforts from Kayshaw Saravia (14.24m), Jordan Moorer (13.65m), and Xavier Wright (13.35m), respectively.
In the long jump, it was Aiken again leading the way for SFBK, taking his second podium with a third place finish (6.65m). Moorer was just behind in sixth place (6.46m).
Damilare Oyetibo put in a successful performance in the throws events, taking second in the discus (48.77m) and fifth in the shotput (14.61m).
On the track, the Terriers 4x400m relay team (Arthur Gooden Jr., Brian Stratchn, Makhi Theosmy, Terell Howard) scored its second win of the outdoor season (3:18.99), beating out NJIT by just 0.73 seconds.
The Terriers scored points in three individual races. Theosmy was the highest individual finisher, taking fourth in the 400m dash (48.97), with Stratchn taking seventh (49.76). Troy Thomas scored a sixth place finish in the 110m hurdles (43.04).
NEXT UP: St. Francis will take split squads to the UConn Northeast Challenge and Hofstra Invitational on Apr. 16.
