BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - The St. Francis Brooklyn Women's Basketball team opens the Northeast Conference Tournament on Monday night as the second seed, its highest in program history, against a familiar foe in the seventh-seeded Bryant Bulldogs.
The Terriers secured the two seed on Feb. 19 with a 57-54 win over Saint Francis (PA), and will be making their first appearance in the conference tournament since 2018-19.
It was only a week and a half ago that St. Francis traveled to Rhode Island to take on Bryant, where they secured a 70-66 win, and swept the season series with the Bulldogs.
LAST TIME OUT
CCSU 62 | St. Francis Brooklyn 71 - The Terriers set a new program record for regular season wins with a nine point, wire-to-wire win over the Blue Devils. The hosts out-rebounded CCSU 28 to 21, and outscored the visitors 15 to 7 on the fast break over the course of 40 minutes, a staple for Linda Cimino's team throughout the season.
Both Terriers starting forwards Fruzsina Horvath and Ally Lassen each finished the contest with over 20 points. With 22, Horvath was named Co-Player of the Week for the first time this season, while Lassen's 21 point showing earned her Prime Performer honors for the third straight week.
LIU 48 | Bryant 47 - The Bulldogs dropped their 12th conference game of the season in difficult circumstances, as a 14 point lead heading into the fourth quarter evaporated over the final 10 minutes. LIU went on a 10-0 run over the last 4:27 of the game to steal a one point victory. Fatou Jallow led the Bulldogs with 14 points, while their leading scorer for the season Brooke Bjelko had a quiet four point outing.
St. Francis Brooklyn won both regular season ties with Bryant this season for the first time since 2018-19. Point Guard Nevena Dimitrijevic was a central figure in both games, scoring 17 points in the home contest, and 18 in the visit to Smithfield.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Daniel Lynch '38 Gymnasium and the game can be streamed on NEC Front Row. Tickets can be purchased through the Terrier Ticket Office.
