BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - The St. Francis Brooklyn women's basketball team (9-7, 5-3 NEC) is set to host conference foe Sacred Heart (5-8, 4-4 NEC) on Thursday night; looking for their sixth win in seven games.
LAST TIME OUT
Bryant 56 | St. Francis Brooklyn 69 - The Terriers bounced back from a loss against FDU, defeating Bryant for their fifth win in six. Nevena Dimitrijevic put in one of her most complete performances of the season, leading the team with 17 points, 6 assists and a season high four steals. Sophomore Fruzsina Horvath had her best game since returning from injury, scoring 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting from the field.
Nevena Dimitrijevic was named NEC Prime Performer for the fourth time season, averaging 15 points, five assists and five blocks for week 11. As was Ally Lassen, who scored a season high 20 points the game before against FDU.
Sacred Heart 66 | SFU 69 - The Pioneers come into Thursday's game off the back of a tough overtime loss to Saint Francis (PA) on Jan. 23. The defeat was their fourth since the beginning of 2022. Junior Olivia Tucker has been a bright spot despite the team's struggles. She was named an NEC Prime Performer after scoring in double figures in both of the Pioneers' games last week.
Sonia Smith is another Sacred Heart player to watch. She's currently the league's fifth leading scorer with 12.8 points per game.
This is the first of two meetings between the programs this season. The Terriers have taken two of the last three, but Sacred Heart has the edge in the all-time series record 32-16. In the Terriers' last win (71-70) over the Pioneers in Feb. 2020, Ally Lassen scored a career high 30 points
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Daniel Lynch '38 Gymnasium in Brooklyn Heights, and the game can be streamed on NEC Front Row.
