NASHVILLE, TN – St. Francis College Brooklyn women's bowling senior Kimmi D'Ottavio earned National Ten Pin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Northeast Region Honorable Mention honors as announced by the organization on Saturday. D'Ottavio becomes the first Terrier in program history to claim NTCA All-Region honors in the first year that the organization has distributed the accolades.

"With such a short season the team knew it was crunch time and had little to almost no time to get into 'on lane shape'. Everything that was done counted 10 times more than usual. We only had 11 practices before our first conference match and less then 20 since our last tournament in March of 2020. I am beyond proud of the team and Kimmi for putting up the numbers that they did this year. Our win-loss record did not reflect how well the team bowled. We average 191 as a program putting tied for 15th in the country this season. Kimmi's ability to focus stay calm and find a solution on the lanes has always impressed me. I am proud of her and am so happy to know that she will be back next season adding to her and our success," said Terriers' Head Coach Dawn Gugliaro.

D'Ottavio had a standout season for the Terriers as she was named to the All-Northeast Conference (NEC) Second Team in March. She became the ninth Terrier to be selected to an All-NEC Team and the eighth to earn Second Team honors. She sparked the Terriers' wins over Wagner and Saint Francis University in the traditional matches at NEC 2 with clean game scores of 218 and 215, respectively.

In Baker matches for the season, she boasted the highest frame average (20.51), filled frame percentage (89.7%), strike percentage (52.1%), and spare percentage (78.6%) on the Terriers. In addition, she tied for the team lead with 31 strikes in seven traditional matches. She ranked tied for eighth in the nation in Baker anchor bowler 10th frame fill percentage (89.1%) and 14th in Baker anchor bowler 10th frame double percentage (25.5%).

The All-Region teams are a new idea for college bowling, brought about in part because the COVID-19 pandemic greatly limited intersectional play this year and there was concern that deserving student-athletes might be overlooked on the traditional All-America team since coaches would not have seen certain competitors in person.

"We thought with over 80 teams basically competing within their own regions all season that it would be easier to compare bowlers regionally," said NTCA President John Williamson. "This also puts us in line structurally with many other NCAA sports and it honors more individuals than simply announcing one All-America team."

The All-Region Team was the result of voting by participating head coaches. The NTCA will announce its traditional All-America team later this month.
