BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - After a dominant first campaign as a libero for the St. Francis Brooklyn women's volleyball team, Alasha Colon (Carolina, Puerto Rico) made history by being named the NEC Co-Rookie of the Year - the first Terrier to ever receive the honor. Colon is also the lone Terrier to be named to an all-conference team; earning a spot on the NEC All-Conference Second Team.

Colon set high marks across the board in her first season on Remsen Street. She finished the season second in the conference in digs, averaging 4.76 per set. She set a career record on Oct. 30 against Central Connecticut State with 33 digs in one game. Her season total of 519 digs places her stats among the best for a libero in program history. She is one of only three players to eclipse the 500 digs mark, and the most since 2010 (Liliana Rodriguez - 508).

She recorded double-digit digs in 27 matches, and more than 20 digs in a match eleven times this season.

Colon is also the second SFBK libero to be named to an all-conference team in program history, along with Kizzy Rodriguez in 2019. She was named NEC Rookie of the Week twice during the season, most recently on Oct. 12. Fellow rookie Monica Vargo (Fogelsville, PA) earned the award for the final three weeks of the season.

She shares the honor of Rookie of the Year with Saint Francis (PA) outside hitter Maggie Hogan.
