Returning to Brooklyn Heights for the first time since March 2, 2020, the Terriers were poised to make a dominant return to their home floor amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Blue Devils of Central Connecticut were poised to ensure its home return, was spoiled.
The Terriers would earn its first two points on a made layup down-low from senior forward Ally Lassen. St. Francis would run into one problem, named senior guard Emma McCamus, who tallied the Blue Devils' first seven consecutive points. Following a Terrier timeout, a slew of St. Francis players in freshman forward Fruzsina Horvath, and sophomore guard Nevena Dimitrijevic ensured a run, that put the Terriers down just one basket and put together a 14-2 run for nearly six minutes of action.
During the second stanza, St. Francis would begin to mount its comeback off the heels of the aforementioned Lassen and Horvath. While freshman guard Carmen Segura would tally a pair from the free-throw line. Finally, the run would be capped off with a trey in the near corner from senior guard Melody Van Ness to once again put the Terriers within one scoring possession.
Third quarter continued to show the Terriers had some fight in them, where they traded baskets back and forth with Central Connecticut. The Blue Devils extended its lead to double-digits, and its biggest lead off the finger-tips of guard Forever Toppin. Following the opposing run, St. Francis went on a run of its own with a Dimitrijevic triple off the backboard.
St. Francis would win the battle off the bench with 23 points, opposed to 17 points from Central Connecticut. The Terriers earned 40 points in the paint, and tallied 15 points off Centrals 13 turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Senior forward Ally Lassen tallied 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds, stole a pair, blocked one, and converted 10-of-19 from the field in 35 minutes on the hardwood.
- Sophomore guard Nevena Dimitrijevic registered 15 points, grabbed seven assists, stole one, and grabbed five rebounds. The Serbian native also converted six-of-16 from the field in 32 minutes on the court.
- Freshman forward Fruzsina Horvath recorded 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds, blocked one, and converted three-of-four from the charity stripe in 26 minutes of game-action.
The Terriers are back in action tomorrow afternoon, as St. Francis Brooklyn returns to the Daniel Lynch '38 Gymnasium to welcome the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State, once again. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m., and can be seen on NEC Front Row.
