Sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Boston returned to the net, where she and her teammates stood tall during the first half. LIU would score three second-half goals with Poole, and Oldroyd netting the final two goals of the afternoon.
The Terriers offense came alive with a pair of goals from freshman defender Isabelle Gollette off a free-kick, that would fly over the head of Kayla DeTreux for the first of the match for the home team. Four minutes later, a pass from midfielder Henriette Lykke to forward Yawara MacNeill gave the California native her first collegiate goal. The Terriers won the battle of the corners 5-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Freshman defender Isabelle Gollette scored her first collegiate goal off a free-kick in the 86' minute of play. She would register two shots on goal in 90 minutes of game-time.
- Freshman forward Yawara MacNeill tallied her first collegiate goal in the 89' minute of action. MacNeill would log 56 minutes of action.
- Sophomore forward and captain Sarah DeWitt recorded a pair of shots, with one on target. The Annapolis native would log 81 minutes of play.
- Freshman midfielder Henriette Lykke notched an assist on the MacNeill goal, alone with adding one shot in 81 minutes of action.
- Junior defender Jazzmin Forwood registered a pair of shots, with one on target while logging 55 minutes on the scoresheet.
- Freshman midfielder Karen Pineda tallied one shot in 64 minutes of game-play.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Boston logged 85 minutes of play, and would save six shots faced.
The Terriers return to action on Sunday, September 29, when the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University welcome them to Fairfield for a noon matinee at Park Avenue Field.
