William Lapkin & Vladimir Mickic Earn NWPC Weekly Honors

BRIDGEPORT, PA – St. Francis College Brooklyn men's water polo senior William Lapkin and freshman Vladimir Mickic took home Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) weekly honors as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon. Lapkin earned Player of the Week recognition, while Mickic was tabbed the Rookie of the Week.
 
Lapkin paced the Terriers' offense with 10 points (five goals, five assists) en route to a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Bucknell Invitational. In St. Francis' first win of the weekend against George Washington, Lapkin recorded a hat trick, one assist, and notched a pair of steals. Later in the day, Lapkin rattled the cage once, dished out an assist, and swiped a steal against Johns Hopkins. To close out the tournament, Lapkin had a goal, three assists, and a steal in a 25-5 win over Washington and Jefferson.
 
Mickic picked up where he left off last weekend as the reigning NWPC Player and Rookie of the Week rattled the cage six times for the Terriers. He began the weekend with a hat trick against George Washington, he then found the back of the net once in the win over Johns Hopkins. In the Bucknell Invitational finale, Mickic tallied a pair of goals in a 25-5 defeat of Washington and Jefferson.

Additionally, freshman goalie Gianmarco Serio was named to the Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll after a strong performance for the Terriers in net against Johns Hopkins. 
 
The Terriers jump back in the pool on Wednesday, October 2, when they begin NWPC play on the road against Iona at 7:30 p.m. Following a mid-week contest with the Gaels, St. Francis opens up its home schedule on Saturday, October 5, with a pair of matches at the SFC Aquatic Center. The Terriers take on MIT at noon, followed by a meeting with Brown at 5 p.m.
