BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – St. Francis College Brooklyn men's soccer head coach Tom Giovatto has announced the addition of Jason Orban to the Terriers' coaching staff for the 2019 season. Orban brings head coaching experience to Brooklyn Heights as he was at the helm of the St. Joseph's Long Island men's soccer program for the 2018 campaign.
 
"We're excited to have Jason join us as an assistant coach. He's doing an incredible job and has really helped out with our sessions. He has a great overall knowledge of the game and does very well with the student-athletes. The guys all love him and enjoy being around him. Jason has great energy and we are really excited to have him here in Brooklyn Heights," said Giovatto.
 
Orban guided the Golden Eagles to the Skyline Conference Tournament as they equaled the best program regular season win percentage since 2012 (8-8-1). Under Orban's tutelage, St. Joseph's (LI) led the Skyline in every conference regular season offensive statistics last season. The team recorded 1.94 goals per game its most since 2012. Off the pitch, Orban's student-athletes excelled in the classroom as they compiled a cumulative team GPA of 3.57 and led the league in Honor Roll selections with 15.
 
The Patchogue, NY, native was appointed the Golden Eagles' head coach in February of 2018, after serving as an assistant on staff for the two seasons prior (2016-17). As an assistant, he helped lead the Golden Eagles to a Skyline Conference championship game appearance in 2017.
 
Before taking over as head coach in 2018, Orban provided support in all on-field activities, including in the preparation and execution of training sessions as an assistant. Orban also oversaw the development of the team's goalkeepers.
 
Additionally, he has filled the role of Director of Operations and Youth Development Director at Cantera Futbol USA. While at Cantera, Orban organized a club-wide program geared towards volunteerism and outreach for all youth players. He created a unique curriculum for players ages 8-13, by adapting best practices utilized in Spain. He also implemented vertical training philosophy to promote a culture centered on growth mindset.
 
Orban has also lent his expertise to the Stony Brook Soccer Club as the program's player development director. In this role, Orban oversaw the development of all players ages four to 10 and directed staff of six academy teams, boys and girls, at the U9 and U10 levels. In the past, he has served as head of goalkeeper development and head travel coach. In the summer of 2018, he began working with the U.S. Soccer Grils East Region Olympic Development Program. He assisted in developing players and identifying prospects for national team pool camps.
 
Before his coaching career, Orban was a men's soccer student-athlete at Stony Brook from 2013-15. He was a goalkeeper and started 27 matches for the Seawolves and compiled a record of 9-15-3. He posted a 6-8-3 record in 17 matches and was a two-time America East Player of the Week.
 
In 2017, Orban participated in a pair of overseas coaching education programs with some of the most prominent soccer clubs in Europe. Orban observed and studied the professional first-team and youth academy sessions of Real Madrid, Villarreal, Real Zaragoza, EFSD Huesca and Rayo Vallecano in Spain. Orban spent time with academy directors, coaches and sports psychologists of Chelsea Football Club Ladies and Premier League club Huddersfield Town in England.
 
A resident of Patchogue, NY, Orban earned a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration (2016) and a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in history (2015) at Stony Brook University.
