Women's Basketball Trio Earns All-NEC Honors

SOMERSET, NJ– The Northeast Conference recognized senior guard Amy O'Neill, junior guard Jade Johnson, and freshman guard Ebony Horton for their extraordinary play throughout the regular season, where they were each named to the "All-NEC First Team", "All-NEC Second Team", and All-Rookie Team" respectively.
 
Amy O'Neill- Guard; Senior:
 
The Melbourne, Australia native was selected to her first all-conference team as she set program records in assists throughout a single season (258 and counting). O'Neill became the first person in St. Francis Brooklyn women's basketball program history to register not one, but a pair of triple-doubles throughout the regular season. She recorded those feats against Sacred Heart (2/2) and on her home floor against LIU Brooklyn just two weeks later (2/16).
 
During the 2018-19 season up to date, O'Neill has averaged 10.3 points-per-game, A field-goal percentage of 47.5. She also averaged 8.6 assists-per-game, and led the team in rebounding per game by averaging 6.9 this season. In addition, O'Neill is 20 assists away from surpassing Mary Kawas for 6th place on the program's all-time assist list. She also broke the conference record in assists made during a single season, which was 229, previously held by Ericka Norman (2013-14).
 
Jade Johnson- Guard; Junior:
 
The Adelaide, Australia native was picked to her second consecutive "All-NEC Second Team" of her career, as she was tabbed with the respective award a season ago as well. While having a career year, she is ranked nationally in three-point percentage, made, and made per game. Johnson is also breaking school records that includes registering her 1,000th career point against LIU Brooklyn on February 16. She also is 14 points away from surpassing hall-of-famer Karen Erving-Schiera (591) for the most points during a single season. Jade currently sits at 578 entering Monday's contest.
 
Johnson has broken the three-point single season mark this season, as she currently sits with 97. The student-athlete who most recently came close to that number was Sarah Benedetti in 2014-15, when she converted 79, which ranks third in program history. Jade has continued to etch her name in the history books, as she ranks top-10 in free-throws made in a single season (103), field-goals made in a single season (189). Jade also ranks in the top-five in three-pointers made throughout her career, where she currently sits fourth (190) behind Chris Cunningham (191).
 
Ebony Horton- Guard; Freshman
 
The Loughborough, England native became the first Terrier named to the "All-Rookie Team" since her teammate Maria Palarino was named during the 2015-16 season. Throughout her first season on Remsen Street, Horton is averaging 8.7 points-per-game, averaging 39.4 field-goal percentage, and four rebounds per game as well.
 
During the last week of the season, Horton averaged 15 points-per-game, as she tied a career high against Central Connecticut on the final evening of the regular season. She also grabbed 19 rebounds, and converted on a combined eight triples against Mount St. Mary's and Central Connecticut to close out the regular season.
 
UP NEXT FOR HORTON, JOHNSON, AND O'NEILL
 
The trio of award winners will be returning to action on Monday evening, March 11, when they welcome in the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary's (MD) for a 7 p.m. tip at the Pope Physical Education Center. The quarterfinal contest will mark the first time since 1994 that Brooklyn Heights has seen NEC Tournament action.
