SOMERSET, NJ– The Northeast Conference has recognized freshman guard Nevena Dimitrijevic as the Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The Serbian native garners the respective award for the second-time in as many weeks, and becomes the first Terrier to tally three in the same season since Leah Fechko during the 2012-13 season. The last conference student-athlete to achieve three awards, was Mount St. Mary's Michaela Harrison during the 2018-19 campaign.
Dimitrijevic carried her Terrier squad on her back, when she rallied the team in the fourth-quarter with a nine-point performance to eventually lead St. Francis past the Albany Great Danes, on Saturday afternoon. The final numbers for Dimitrijevic included a team high 16 points, grabbed six rebounds in 40 minutes on the hardwood, and converted five-of-11 from the field.
This is the third Rookie of the Week award earned by Dimitrijevic. The Serbian native earned the respective award during the week of November 25, following a pair of breakout games against Army and Loyola (MD), followed by a 25 point-performance against East Stroudsburg, and most recently against the Great Danes.
The Terriers' freshman guard has etched her name into the tops of numerous categories on the conference's lists that include free-throw percentage, where she sits third at 83.9. Third in steals with 22, and averages 2.44 per game. Second in assist/turnover ratio at 2.00. Dimitrijevic also sits in fifth place in the scoring column averaging 15.3 points-per-game. She also has a double-double against NJIT, where she tallied 13 points and assisted on 12 baskets. Finally, the Serbian guard sits first in the conference averaging 6.6 assists per game, and has amassed 60 through nine games. Dimitrijevic is the lone student-athlete in the conference who has four 20+ point performances. She, and Central Connecticut's Ashley Forker are the two conference players who hold 10+ assist performances this season.
