St. Francis Brooklyn Athletics

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY – The St. Francis Brooklyn men's soccer team (4-6-0, 1-0-0 NEC) defeated Central Connecticut State (0-7-1, 0-1-0 NEC), 1-0, in the team's first conference game of the 2018 season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In the 53^rd minute, senior midfielder Tomas DeAndrade scored his first goal of the season off an assist from sophomore defender Ridwan Hannan. DeAndrade recorded three shots, two of which were on goal.
• Freshman goalkeeper Andrea Lubbia registered his second clean sheet of the season. Lubbia recorded three saves in 90 minutes of action. Lubbia's first shutout of the season came against La Salle on September 5.
• Freshman forward Thriston Briscoe tallied a pair of shots, both on goal.
• The Terriers are now 5-0-0 against the Blue Devils dating back to 2014. The Terriers have won two of its last three contests.
• St. Francis Brooklyn outshot the Blue Devils 8-4 and recorded four shots on goal.

NOTES FROM THE COACH:
"We needed to come out today and play a strong first half, said Terriers head coach Tom Giovatto. We played much better than we did last time out. We want to continue to post shutouts, play strong defense and register more clean sheets. As a team, we need to take this effort and build on it going into Sunday's game with LIU Brooklyn."
