Terriers Gear Up For Conference Play as They Host CCSU & LIU Brooklyn This Weekend

The Terriers (3-6-0) open up the conference portion of their 2018 schedule when they host Central Connecticut State (0-6-1) on Friday, September 28, at 3 p.m., at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Blue Devils are coming off a 1-1 tie in their last game on September 25, against Hartford.
 
Since 2014 the Terriers have posted a perfect (4-0-0) mark against the Blue Devils with their last win coming on October 27, 2017. In the teams previous meeting St. Francis Brooklyn pulled away with the 1-0 victory in New Britain, CT.

The Terriers wrap up their five-game homestand on Sunday, September 30, at 1 p.m., when they take on long-time rival LIU Brooklyn in the Battle of Brooklyn. LIU Brooklyn enters the game (5-3-1) and are winners of four games in a row. The Blackbirds defeated NJIT, 3-2, in their last outing on September 25.
 
St. Francis Brooklyn defeated LIU Brooklyn, 5-0, in the 2017 NEC Men's Soccer Championship game. The victory marked the Terriers' fourth NEC title in the past five years. The Terriers have won each of the previous three meetings against the Blackbirds including the 2017 NEC Championship game.
 
HOME COOKIN':
Since 2013, the Terriers have posted a (34-8-4) mark at home. Each of the previous three seasons, St. Francis Brooklyn has compiled a (17-4-2) record at Brooklyn Bridge Park – Pier 5.
 
PICKED TO THREE-PEAT:
St. Francis Brooklyn was selected as the unanimous favorite in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Poll for the second year in a row, as announced by the league on August 14. The Terriers have claimed two consecutive NEC Championships and are winners of four out of the last five conference titles (2013, 2014, 2016, 2017).
 
DOUBLE-DIGIT WINS:
Since Giovatto took over the helm in 2007, the Terriers have won 10 or more games in a season eight times. St. Francis Brooklyn has recorded double-digit win totals five years in a row and won 14 games in 2017, the most since the team won 15 games in 1998.
 
The 14 wins in 2017 tied for the second-most victories in a single-season in program history. The Terriers also won 14 games in 1978, 1991, 1995, and 1997.
