CCSU DEFEATS ST. FRANCIS, 64-59, IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NEW YORK---Junior guard Jacinda Williams led St. Francis with 15 points but the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils escaped Brooklyn Heights with a 64-59 victory. The Terriers finish the regular season with an overall record of 2-27 and 1-17 in the Northeast Conference while the Blue Devils clinch the sixth seed in the upcoming Northeast Conference Tournament with a league mark of 8-10 and 11-17 overall. 
 
The Blue Devils jumped out to a fast start as they scored the contests first nine points en route to a 12-2 margin at the 16 minute mark. Alexzandria Dowdy connected on a pair of three-pointers while PJ Wade was able to score in transition on consecutive fast break opportunities to help give  CCSU a double-digit lead. 
 
After two free throws by Justina Udenze, the Terriers held Central scoreless for the next 10:16.  The Terriers capped off their 23-2 run with a three-pointer by senior Melissa Weithman to make it 25-14 with 5:23 to play. CCSU cut into the St. Francis (NY) lead and trailed by only three, 28-25 at the half.
 
The Terriers extended their second half lead to six twice before CCSU took control of the game.  St. Francis made it 37-31 on a jumper in the paint by Jacinda Williams.  The Blue Devils then went on a 10-0 run to take a 41-37 lead that they didn't lose the rest of the way.
 
Freshman Autumn Lau chipped in 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and senior Melissa Weithman, playing in her final game for the Terriers, scored a career-high ten points while pulling down four rebounds in 37 minutes of action. 
 
Udenze led the Blue Devils with 18 points, while three others finished in double figures.  Kerrianne Dugan tallied 16 points, five rebounds and three assists while Leanne Crockett recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.  Dowdy chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.
